DTM newcomer Emil Frey Racing is an absolute eye-catcher on the 2023 grid: Red Bull logo on one Ferrari – Formula 1 driver in the second car.
Emil Frey Racing is not only making its DTM debut in 2023 but is also the absolute eye-catcher on the grid: The racing team from Switzerland is fielding two of the brand-new Ferrari 296 GT3s. Both the new racer and the new Swiss cars look promising to bet on them at 22bet.ng/live/, don’t miss a good chance. Among the 13 registered teams with Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, and Lamborghini, Emil Frey Racing is the only Ferrari customer team in the DTM this year.
In a way, Emil Frey Racing is continuing the ‘tradition’ of combining Ferrari and Red Bull in the traditional German racing series that began in 2021: Ferrari #69 is emblazoned with the energy drink manufacturer’s logo! The reason behind it: At the wheel of the 296 GT3 is Thierry Vermeulen, the son of the manager of two-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen.
The 19-year-old Dutchman is a newcomer to the Swiss racing team, which made a brand switch to Ferrari in January after four years with Lamborghini. Vermeulen Junior competed in the 2022 ADAC GT Masters for Audi’s Car Collection team and scored a podium finish in only his second year in GT3 racing.
Formula 1 driver Aitken in the second Emil Frey Ferrari
His teammate is already familiar with Emil Frey Racing: Jack Aitken. The Briton helped the team win the team championship in the ADAC GT Masters last season. With Aitken, the DTM even welcomes a driver with Formula 1 experience: In the 2020 season, the 27-year-old replaced the prevented regular driver George Russell at Williams (standing in for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes at the time).
Aitken did well at the Grand Prix in the desert state, finishing 16th. However, he had to bury his F1 ambitions for the time being: This year, Aitken and Williams parted ways after three years together. The London native has already shaken off the ‘racing rust’ in the young season, competing in the 24 Hours of Daytona in a Cadillac LMDh racer.
“The driver lineup consists of a majority of drivers known to us, with a good mix of long experience and young talent. With Thierry Vermeulen, we were able to attract a young, very talented driver supported by Red Bull for the 2023 racing season. We are looking forward to starting the season with this new driver line-up,” says Team Principal Lorenz Frey-Hilti.
